BAY OF QUINTE YOUTH COUNCIL NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
September 12, 2018 – Bay of Quinte. Neil Ellis, Member of Parliament for the Bay of Quinte riding invites youth from the region, between the ages of 15 to 24, to apply to the new Bay of Quinte Constituency Youth Council (CYC).
Following the success of last year’s Constituency Youth Council, MP Neil Ellis is excited to launch the 2018/2019 CYC. This council consists of Bay of Quinte riding youth who meet once every 1 to 2 months to discuss issues and topics of greatest importance to them. During this time, localized projects will be organized to mobilize the community and utilize the best ideas from the CYC group members.
In 2017/2018, the Youth Council developed and executed the Spring Showers Toiletries Project, which brought in over 6,000 hygiene products and toiletries for use across local food banks in the riding. This year, MP Ellis hopes the incoming council will bring new ideas for an initiative to make an equally positive impact on the community once again, and also be able to enjoy sharing valuable discussions on topics that matter most to them.
This is a nonpartisan council that will focus on bringing a diverse set of perspectives to the conversation. The Member of Parliament will have the opportunity to hear fresh new perspectives and ideas, and participants will be able to better understand the federal political process and gain valuable leadership experience.
To apply: An application form is available in print at 100 Station Street, or for download through the Facebook page and official website. Applicants can also learn who their MP is by checking with their school guidance counsellor. Applications are due by 5:00pm on Monday, October 1st, 2018.
